Every great piece of art has a story

Sienna Studios is no different.  Sienna originally opened as Quadrafonic Studios in 1970 by David Briggs and Norbert Putnam.  It was one of the fist multi-room studios in Nashville and earned a name for itself as a flexible and comfortable recording studio for all types of music.  Under the care of Putnam and Briggs, Quad grew into one of the top studios, hosting Joan Baez album "Blessed Are" as its first big hit, but when Neil Young recorded "Harvest" there, Quad grounded itself as the studio for pop stars.  Dan Fogelberg, Dobie Gray, and James Taylor all tracked albums at Quad as well, turning Quad into the most profitable studio in Nashville at the time.  The success of Quad caught Putnam and Briggs off guard.  The two session musicians had first created the studio as a location to record demos, and never dreamed of it blossoming into something so huge.

They sold the studio at its peak in 1980 to Lou Gonzalez and Gerald G. Patterson who expanded Quad even further.  At the time, Lou owned and operated Quad Studios New York and remodeled the studio to take after that, so clients visiting from there would feel just as at home.  With Gonzalez and Patterson at the helm, Quad saw even more growth and iconic artists.  From Keith Urban to Taylor Swift, Quad continued to foster incredible music.  However with home recording becoming more commonplace in recent year, Quad began to face difficulties in keeping the studios booked.

In 2014, Round Hill Music CEO, Josh Gruss, and award winning songwriter, Marti Frederiksen partnered together and bought the property.  Not only did they restore the studio to impeccable condition, but renamed the studio as Sienna, marking a new era in its history.

Through all the management and name changes, and the unbelievable growth of a demo studio, Sienna remains at its core a studio devoted to artists and the music they play. Without the incredible artists of its past, Sienna would not be the music row studio it is today.
